Amplitude release Australium update for Dungeon of the Endless, "dungeon crawling with Team Fortress 2"

Developer Amplitude Studios has just released a Team Fortress 2 flavoured update to Dungeon of the Endless for free, which adds in the "brutal gravel war" between two mercenary companies for the rare element Australium.

This free content is thanks to surpassing 'stretch goals' during a Steam free weekend. The TF2-inspired characters are Pat Bates (Pyro), Kaspar Herab (Medic), Dell Bradford (Engineer) and Misha Cherny (Heavy).

Endless Legend was one of the most beautiful games released last year, and a damned fine 4X game in its own right. I didn't quite get on with it as well as other reviewers seemed to (I found the interface a bit clunky and the combat occasionally frustrating), but I still had a lot of fun getting to know its various unique races – it has some of the best faction design I've ever seen.

If you've yet to dive into developer Amplitude's beautifully designed fantasy world, this weekend's as good a time as any to do so – Endless Legend and its rogue-like dungeon–crawler spin-off Dungeon of the Endless are both free to play on Steam this weekend.

Steam Autumn Sale surges Amplitude's Endless series over 1.2 million

Indie developer Amplitude Studios has seen their Endless series of games rocket past 1.2 million sales, as it enjoyed the top spot during Steam's Autumn Sale. Endless Legend led Black Friday sales.

The French studio was founded over two-and-a-half years ago. The co-operative Dungeon of the Endless performed as well, which is the only non-4X title in the Endless series.

Amplitude Studios will release the latest entry in its Endless universe this month, with rogue-like dungeon defense game Dungeon of the Endless coming to Steam on October 27.

The game's been on Early Access since December 2013, but the complete version adds several new features including more difficulty levels, score tracking and co-op multiplayer.

Dungeon of the Endless to receive four player co-op in the future

Rogue-like tower defence game Dungeon of the Endless will eventually receive four-player co-op, according to developers Amplitude Studios.

In an interview with Joystiq the team confirmed their multiplayer plans, originally revealed in a developer blog post.
