Season Eleven of Perfect World Entertainment's Star Trek Online is on the way, bringing gameplay updates and an all-new story arc that will last “beyond 2016.”

“Following the epic conclusion of the five-year The Iconian War story arc, New Dawn will rise out of the grim wartime tale to introduce an all-new story focused on rebuilding and hope,” says the developer. “Discover a previously unknown civilization and uncover the mystery of a strange traveler from another time.”

Cryptic Studios Suffers Staff Cuts According to Twitter Reports

Social media posts from Twitter seem to suggest that Cryptic Studios, known for developing Star Trek Online, has suffered layoffs.

Although some of the tweets have now been deleted, an ex Perfect World Entertainment (Publisher) PR representative confirmed the layoffs and called the staff cuts “a slaughter”.

Star Trek Online's second expansion Delta Rising is now live, adding a brand new storyline and several new mechanics all for the very reasonable price of free.

Set 32 years before the TV show Star Trek Voyager, the new expansion stars several members of the Voyager crew and takes players to the mysterious, largely unexplored Delta Quadrant.

Cryptic are getting the old Voyager gang back together for Delta Rising, the latest expansion for Star Trek Online. Seven of Nine, Neelix, the Doctor, Harry Kim and Tuvok will all be making an appearance.

I know, it's not quite Kirk or Picard, but still some familiar faces that fans of the show will enjoy meeting up with.
