The publishing giant has scrapped their plan to add a new studio in Vancouver and have already leased the new giant floor space to another tenant.
It was expected to house current and new staff, adding to EA Black Box and EA Canada. It's believed that these teams have in fact suffered job losses as EA trims back numbers.
"These are challenging times, they're uncertain times for our industry and across the board," said Colin Macrae, EA spokesperson. "We continue to be firmly rooted in Vancouver."
EA Black Box is located in downtown Vancouver while EA Canada is in nearby Burnaby. More troubling for Black Box are the rumours that EA plan to abandon the Need For Speed franchise given the series poor sales and reviews.
EA's share price has taken a tumble or two since these cost cutting announcements reaching a seven-year low for the company.
