The newly formed Crytek UK, formerly Free Radical, are real busy these days as they’re putting together ”an original IP” that they hope will define the UK-based studio.
It looks to have singleplayer and online play according to studio manager Karl Hilton. The UK studio has a ”strong history” of creativity, and they’re marching forward with Crytek tech.
”We are currently concepting up an original IP that we hope will become a defining game series for the UK studio,” boss Hilton tells Develop, reports Joystiq.
”However, in reality, the opportunity to make any kind of original FPS genre game where we get to focus on the quality of both the multiplayer and single player experience is what drives people at the studio,” he continued, adding, ”We have a strong history of creativity here, and we want to take that forward with Crytek and the CryENGINE 3.”
Free Radical of course created the crazy TimeSplitters franchise, so they know how to make something ‘original’ alright. Sadly this means no TimeSplitters 4 within the decade probably, but at least whatever it is gets built using Crytek’s very pretty and capable CryEngine 3.
