Developer Mythic is ditching the separate starter zones for new players in Warhammer Online, with the idea being to shore up populations and keep the flow ”more intuitive”.
Basically the old way stretched questing and the like ‘too thin’, and so they’ve decide to concentrate on one super area for all new players. They also introduce apprenticeships.
”Because we are dealing with a single starting location, we are able to tailor and revamp the content offered in the pairing to make the quest flow more intuitive, give better itemization / rewards for players’ efforts, and provide a better detailed and informative play session,” explained associate producer James Casey, reports Eurogamer.
That means a better tutorial system, an updated in-game manual and a specifically put together chat channel for advice seekers and givers. Also getting added is the new apprenticeship system, where lower and higher level characters scale in power.
This lets new and veteran characters play together without the huge disparity in talents and abilities. It’s all intended to help bolster a better play population, to help users find others for public quests and other mayhem. It’s all coming with patch 1.3.2, and detailed by Mythic’s dev diary.
