Scribblenauts’ 5th Cell has revealed they’re working an Xbox Live Arcade offering as their next project, and it’s ”going to be pretty big.” It’s way too early to dish the details though.
The handheld developer is ”done with handheld” for original games. Now co-founder Jeremiah Slaczka says they want to try console. 5th Cell will grow slowly over time; still indie.
”We’re doing an Xbox Live Arcade title next, and it’s going to be pretty big,” Slaczka tells Gamasutra in an interview. ”It’s going to be really cool. We’re very excited about it… it’s totally not ready to be announced. It’s far away.” They’ve release four titles on Nintendo DS.
”This year, we’re actually done with handheld for original titles. We’re not going to spend our stuff on new original titles. We’ll put that onto consoles,” he continued.
The indie developer is a little jealous of all those extra resources and much bigger time frames that larger studios get to spend on their game projects, but ”growth for growth’s sake is stupid,” he said. ”We still want to do original stuff. We’ll always do original stuff. Self-funding, self-publishing. I don’t know, we’ll see where it goes.” He’d ”love to be large”.
