Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock went on sale in fall 2007 and has since strummed its way into many gamers’ wallets.
Some of the included artists have since seen a rise in their download sales ranging from 15% to 843%. Acti-Blizz’s Mike Griffith says games are ”reinvigorating the music industry.”
It now stands at over 21 million units have been downloaded for the Guitar Hero franchise, with sales for actual guitars seeing a hike in numbers.
Griffith also claimed two thirds of non-musicians would go on to try an instrument, whereas three-fourths of musicians spent more time playing theirs after playing music games.
With games like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto IV, Gears of War 2, Killzone 2 etc. great dramatic storytelling is becoming an ever increasing trait. So that’s music and film/TV covered …perhaps videogames are set for world domination after all?
