Some hoped Peter Molyneux would be lifting the lid on some new game this GDC, but sadly he’s revealed there will be no such luck.
Instead he’ll be showcasing ”experiments” the Lionhead team have been playing with, some are ”so truly weird” it’ll boggle the mind apparently. Devs shouldn’t be ”scared to be inventive”.
”A lot of the times I’ve done talks at GDC it was to talk about the game I was working on. This time, I’m talking about experiments at Lionhead and how we come up with ideas,” Molyneux told VG247.
”There is a process to creativity and anyone can experiment, therefore I will be showing some of these inventive game mechanics from the past.”
The gaming veteran has previously noted an unannounced project from his team would likely make its way into a science journal, and it was thought he was going to spill the beans this week.
He admits some of the gameplay prototypes ”failed tragically, and some are so truly weird that the audience will be like, ‘Why did they even attempt that?’”
”But what I think people are going to take away from it is that you don’t have to be scared to be inventive, or scared to work on weird things,” he added.
At least we’ll get a glimpse at the madness of Lionhead Studios’ curious creativity.
