At this year’s Comic-Con the studio will unveil their ”brand new” project that’s ”based on the DNA of Spore.” This is the first time it reveals to the public.
”Video Game Reveal: Maxis Studio— Maxis Studio (The Sims and Spore video games) has just announced their next project, a brand new, Sci-Fi Action-RPG based on the DNA of Spore,” reads the official Comic-Con website, reports Eurogamer.
”Join key leads from the dev team, Thomas Vu, Paul Sottosanti and Lauren McHugh, for the first game reveal to the public!” It unveils at the convention on July 24th between 5 and 6 in the evening. EA already said a Maxis Spore title was coming March 31st, 2011.
Spore released on PC back in 2008 and was thought to be the ‘next step’ beyond The Sims as players literally create their own virtual species and lead from the primordial soup through to colonizing the stars. Spin-offs have been launched, naturally.
It was criticized though for not living up to its original conception, instead favouring a more casual and ‘dumbed down’ approach to managing your own life forms. What the heck could a ‘Spore Action RPG’ be, videogamer?
