Frankly there’s not enough room to ”weave into” the portfolio a bunch of remakes. Any such a project would need to ”provide real value” to the consumers.
”I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad idea,” said Microsoft Game Studios’ Phil Spencer. ”I’m going to think about it from the customer’s perspective, and are we really delivering something of value to the customer at a price that they want?”
”We obviously have a lot of new things going on, so the thought of re-doing a bunch of things is probably difficult to just weave into the overall portfolio,” Spencer added. ”If you can provide real value to the customer, there could be possibilities for that, but I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about it.” Sony’s not shy about PSOne and PS2 re-releases.
Ubisoft joins the likes of Capcom and SEGA who are dusting off their back catalogue to give old-gen videogames a good HD facelift. What Microsoft classic titles would you just love to see waltz onto the Xbox Live Marketplace? Halo: Combat Evolved perhaps?
