Crysis may be making it onto Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as an ESRB listing has popped up listing both consoles for it - being listed on ESRB is a mortal lock, since publishers have to spend a pretty penny to get games evaluated and rated by them.
Back in 2007, when asked about bringing Crysis to consoles, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli stated, "(People) are asking me if it's possible. Of course. You can get Crysis even on the Nintendo DS. But not that Crysis -- you cannot get Crysis as it is on PC on any console. What you would have to do is compromise the design and the level design and in order to make Crysis's gameplay (on console) you would have to make a derivative Crysis and optimize it for the Xbox 360 and PS3. In fact, if we do it, we'll optimize it for each platform."
While that might have been true in 2007, Crysis 2 made the successful leap to consoles, and it's quite possible that the optimization that CryEngine 3 brings, it's quite possible that Crysis will now look really good on 360 and PS3 simply by porting the game to the new engine.
And as even current PC owners know, Crysis 1 still looks amazing.
