Infinity’s Modern Warfare 2 managed 11 million for the same time period. The average user spent $76 on Black Ops, says Activision, up 18% of the game’s price.
When Activision keeps releasing about four, maybe five maps in a pack for $15 a time don’t go blaming them - they’re just responding to market forces. World at War sold 9 million map packs at $10 each while Modern Warfare 2 managed 11 million at $15.
”There are over 30 million unique players of Black Ops who collectively have amassed, incredibly, more than 2.3 billion hours of play,” said Eric Hirshberg.
”To put that number in perspective, that’s more than a quarter of a million years of play and that means our millions of fans spend more time per day on Black Ops multiplayer than they do on Facebook.”
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC November 8th. It’s likely a few map packs will be on their way too, what do you reckon?
