Yakuza: Dead Souls, which was titled Yakuza Of The End in Japan, will be hitting North America in March 2012 exclusively for the PlayStation 3. Yakuza: Dead Souls is a strange combination of the normal Yakuza title (which itself can be called a mix of Shenmue and Grand Theft Auto III) and the zombie apocalypse genre.
The game will have the player finding himself dealing with countless hordes of zombies invading the streets, trapped in the Red Light distrct of Tokyo. Sega senior VP of marketing Gary Knight announced, “We know how much people love Yakuza in the West and with Dead Souls being the latest and greatest in the franchise, it is only right we bring it to them closer to the Japanese release than ever.”
The game will resemble Dead Rising in its combat, with tons of weapons, both normal and improvised, to do lots of gory finishing moves on the undead. The game will have a light tone similar to Yakuza 4's over the top violence.
Players can check the game out on the official site.
