David O. Russell was set to direct the project but "creative differences" led him to quit. Fans of Uncharted were upset with the direction it was taking.
It seems there's hope for a more 'faithful' movie adaption after all as director Neil Burger was apparently welcomed into the fold by producers Avi Arad, Ari Arad, Charles Roven and Alex Gartner after they learned he wants to stick close to the videogames.
The role for actor Mark Wahlberg as Drake remains unclear at this stage. Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes were also said to be involved under Russell's original idea but they might not make the cut with Burger. Let's hope Uncharted is delivered justice.
