Capcom ”couldn’t really ignore” fans clamouring for a sandbox mode so they included it. It’s fun to explore Fortune City ”without the restrictions” of story.
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record releases as a budget title this October 14th and has Frank West telling his ‘what I would have done’ story set in Dead Rising 2’s Fortune City. It has an all-new area called the Uranus Zone, a theme park full of challenges.
Fan feedback brought in sandbox. ”Really this mode was driven from fan response,” said executive producer Jason Leigh, ”they really wanted Infinity Mode from Dead Rising 1, but rather than that we went for the Terror is Reality multiplayer mode for Dead Rising 2.”
”This time around we couldn’t really ignore the fan feedback - they really want this mode, and frankly it would be fun to come into this world without the restrictions of a story just to explore.” The development team has made great strides with the tech.
”We really focused on the load times,” said Leigh, a major complaint of fans, ”The load times were called out in Dead Rising 2, and this time around they’ve been halved.”
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC October 14th.
