Update: Sony once again has tried to pass shipped numbers for actual sales. The publisher had shipped 3.8M copies, but sold just over 1M in the first week.
Original: EA’s Battlefield 3 may have denied Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception the top of the UK all format chart, but it still became one of 2011’s best performing exclusive titles. This has put Uncharted 3 on a ”clear course to be the biggest selling game” in the series, cry Sony. It achieved a Metacritic rating of 90+ and had been highly anticipated.
Despite all the general love the third instalment got, Naughty Dog had to go on the defensive over its mechanics for gunplay, which were labelled ‘sluggish’ and ‘clunky’ by fans.
Nevertheless Sony and the studio can’t be anything but proud as Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception cleared 3.8 million copies globally its first day on sale. That’s no small amount of change for a platform exclusive series. We had a bash at Nathan Drake’s latest adventure but didn’t think as highly of it no thanks to its ”persistent flaws”.
What did you think of it, video gamer?
