Double Fine Productions has announced that not only will The Game Formerly Known As Trenched be released in Europe on the 30th November as Iron Brigade, but the game will be known as Iron Brigade worldwide, presumably to prevent market confusion. Players who purchased Trenched will wake up to find their game called Iron Brigade on that day.
According to Double Fine project lead Brad Muir, “European players had to wait so long for this game, we wanted to make it up to them with awesome new features. We added a brand new, incredibly challenging infinite Survival Mode with ten new pieces of high-powered loot, along with a new leaderboard to track players on this Survival Mission.”
The rename will also allow players to internationally compete in online matches as well.
Trenched was released on the 22nd June, 2011 on Xbox Live Arcade in North America to universally positive reviews. A World War I Portuguese board game also by the name of Trenched blocked the sale of the Xbox Live Arcade title from Double Fine due to trademarking.
