Hooray! Ah, wait a minute. No - that’s a big steaming pile of non-truth (a lie). It will still require you to ”sign in at game launch”, but then your Internet can die.
Basically you still need an Internet connection to play Driver: San Francisco on PC - that’s the bottom line, but at least if you do lose your connection it won’t boot you out. It’s hardly listening to the ‘feedback’ of the community though and still punishes consumers.
“We’ve heard your feedback regarding the permanent internet connection requirement for Driver and have made the decision to no longer include it,” said a Ubisoft representative. Notice that after this statement your PC gamer heart fluttered a little?
Here’s where the shoe drops so-to-speak: ”So this means that Driver PC gamers will only need to sign in at game launch but can subsequently choose to play the game offline.”
People who want to play on their fancy gaming laptop are still out of luck if you happen to be outside of the Internet’s reach. Pirate copies of the game are of course devoid of this horrendous DRM as only paying consumers must put up with it.
Remind us how the pirates are the ones getting the short straw Ubisoft? Driver: San Francisco releases on Xbox 360 and PS3 September 6th, on PC the 27th.
