Overall the division made $435.3m in operating profit as the PS3 sold 14.3m units through the fiscal term. PSP and PS2 sales each fell over a million though.
PSPs managed 8m, down by 1.9m, and the trusty old dog PS2 cleared 6.4m, down by 1.1m. The PlayStation 3 console climbed 1.3m units during the fiscal. Sony expects it will sell around 15m consoles this fiscal period, with PSP at 6m and PS2 at 4m.
Software for PS3 shot up to 147.9 million, better than the previous fiscal’s 115.6 million. Even PSP software sales went up to 46.6 million but PS2 shrank to 16.4 million, less than half of what it enjoyed the previous 12 months.
Overall predictions for the PlayStation division in fiscal 2011 echo 2010. The PlayStation Network intrusion and cost of business was not factored into the fiscal report but already Sony has warned investors that the likely cost of the attack is around £106 million.
