UK chart top blitzed by Battlefield 3, Batman: Arkham City zip lines 2nd

DICE’s Battlefield 3 has taken the UK all format chart top as last week’s number one seller, with Batman: Arkham City holding on respectably 2nd, followed by FIFA 12.

Football Manager 2012 sinks one place to 4th, while Kinect Sports: Season 2 debuts 18th. Ubisoft’s Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn enters 35th and Dark Souls hangs on 40th.

It’s rather unsurprising that Battlefield 3 should claim top spot its opening week, but we’re glad to see Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham City holds strong in the face of a major AAA.

Namco Bandai’s Dragonball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi enter the chart 23rd, faring better than Ubisoft’s movie-tie entry of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. Call of Duty: Black Ops decided to rock climb up a few places coming 25th last week. From Software’s extremely punishing Dark Souls has fell from 18th to 40th.
