A generous variety exists in the missions with GTA classics ”updated and improved.” Cover mechanics play a big role, having been redone. Different endings based on player choices.
Getting to take fares in taxis, save lives in ambulances and gun down criminals in cop cars looks to be returning, although they won’t operate like they did in past GTAs.
Apparently the team have gone all out on water this time as there’ll be a full underwater world which includes submerged caves to go and explore, which is possible thanks to diving gear. Trevor is a skilled pilot, while Franklin is a skilled driver and sharp shooter, and Michael is considered the ”smooth operator” who’s skilled and versatile.
Apparently Franklin finds something of a mentor in Michael during one of his repo missions. Trevor is considered the more ‘traditional GTA player character’ who goes around blowing crap up. Missions will range among ”big and small events , explosive, infiltration, super spectacular, family, invasion, hostage recovery, heists and robberies. Plus classic GTA missions but updated and improved,” summarises GTAV.net.
Cover is even more important in GTA V than it was in IV, which is why Rockstar spent a lot of time improving it. Rockstar boss Dan Houser hints we’ll have stuff to blow our pile of money on throughout the game, despite not having property to manage; this is in response to fan criticism of GTA IV.
There will be dynamic music played throughout GTA V missions like in L.A. Noire. There will be no co-op supported for singleplayer missions however multiplayer will. The studio is focusing big on multiplayer to keep fans happy once they decide to take a break from singleplayer.
They use a radial menu to select between the three protagonists, and switching within the missions is partially scripted so in some instances the player isn’t given a choice as who they want to play. Rockstar is implementing multiple endings to the game to support what choices the player makes throughout.
Apparently the storyline takes about 25 hours to complete and the map of GTA V is entirely accessible from the beginning, with only a small handful of exceptions. Some missions need a certain level of cash to begin. Around a dozen new in-game screenshots have hit the Internet showing the three characters and more of Los Santos.
The second trailer which was delayed by Hurricane Sandy releases November 14th.
