Flying Squirrel Entertainment has announced that it's working on a new title called "Battle Cry of Freedom" for the PC. The developer is known for creating the Mount & Blade DLC Napoleonic Wars, but this next project will be a standalone release.
Set during the era of the American Civil War, players will experience tactical gameplay where two teams fight for control of the battlefield. Utilising a wide range of weaponry, from long range rifled muskets and devastating artillery, to various deadly close combat tools such as bayonets, knives and muskets, players will take up the fight for the North or the South trying to win the day on the bloody battlefields of America.
"Battle Cry of Freedom" features a large amount of players simultaneously fighting each other on the same battlefield. If the servers can handle it, it should be able to support over 500 players battling in a completely destructible Civil War combat environment.
Flying Squirrel are using a crowd-funding system, similar to Kickstarter, to help raise funds for development. The donation system features a tiered reward layout that is integrated into the official forums. The rewards vary from possession of the game, access to the alpha and beta, and special boxed editions and banners.
