It seems that Electronic Arts’ offer to give a free digital copy of Battlefield 3 to preorders of Mass Effect 3 on Origin was perhaps a little too sweet for the publishers taste, or someone has found a way to exploit it, because the offer is no longer available. The offer was supposed to run through to the 5th March, a day before Mass Effect 3’s launch in North America.
In addition, gamers who did qualify for the free Battlefield 3 must wait til the 8th March to actually get the code for it. EA also stated that gamers who already owned Battlefield 3 could now get a code to give to a friend. Originally, players who already owned the game did not qualify.
Electronic Arts has not yet given a reason for the termination of the offer. Stay tuned.
Mass Effect 3 will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 the 6th March in North America, and the 9th in Europe.
