The Banner Saga, a strategy-RPG hybrid being developed by former Star Wars: The Old Republic lead developers Arnie Jorgensen, Alex Thomas and John Watson, has begun its Kickstarter fundraising. The goal set by the company, Stoic Games, is $100,000 in 32 days.
The game features hand-painted graphics and strategic, turn-based combat similar to that of tactical RPGs like Heroes of Might & Magic. However, true to the team’s BioWare roots, the player will also be given hard choices to make that will havew a huge affect on how the story plays out, including who survives and who dies.
Players will add people to their caravan as they travel, or decide to lose them when tough decisions arise. ”Your choices in dialogue and throughout the game truly affect the story and the people around you. A mature story for adults means forming relationships and making tough decisions; not sex, violence and swearing,” according to the developers.
The game will also feature a multiplayer mode, in which players can build a unique party of characters and battle friends and enemies in multiplayer combat. A gamer’s party will upgrade over time, allowing them to devise new strategies and tactics.
