They’re ”definitely supporting PC,” but ”it’ll be PC with a controller.” Hutchinson says he doesn’t see the studio ”investing hugely” in a keyboard and mouse approach to the game.
The Ubisoft exec believes that if you want to play ACIII on PC, ”you have a controller.” There are just some games that don’t translate well and this series is one of them.
Frankly Assassin’s Creed relies of the nuance an analogue stick can give you, and then of course there’s the convenience of having all the action buttons mapped within easy reach. Given the huge amount of freestyle running and combat in ACIII, the keyboard and mouse aren’t the best of options.
”We’re definitely supporting PC,” Alex Hutchinson told Gamespy. ”We love PC, but I think it’ll be PC with a controller. I don’t see us investing hugely in a mouse and keyboard setup. I think if you want to play on PC and you want to play Assassin’s Creed, you have a controller.” Rest assured though it will support keyboard and mouse.
Assassin’s Creed 3 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC October 31st.
