The Breath of Fire franchise is getting dusted off by Capcom for release on PC and mobile devices, but before you let your optimism soar and start nudging satellites in orbit: it’s online and built for touch.
Progress can be shared over platforms, and is described as an ‘online touch RPG’ with service starting in 2014. This is the first time a numbered Breath of Fire release has hit mobile platforms.
The first ever Breath of Fire hit SNES back in 1993, which then migrated to PlayStation by its third game. Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter launched on PS2 in 2002.
This isn’t exactly the way most Breath of Fire fans want a new instalment in the series, but at least it will come to PC in whatever form that is next year. Hopefully it’s not bloated with dreaded microtransactions. The 2014 date was revealed by Japanese blog Esuteru, and found by NeoGAF.
