Pioneering free-to-play MMO publisher Outspark shuttered

San Francisco-based MMO publisher Outspark has shuttered. The publisher, founded in 2006, was one of the first Western companies to invest in free-to-play MMOs. Among the MMO’s published by Outspark included Fiesta Online and Secret of the Solstice.

European MMO publisher gamigo took over operations of Fiesta Online on the 6th February. gamigo posted on the official Fiesta Online site, “As of 6th February Fiesta North America will be a part of the gamigo family! Effective as of 6th February, 2013, gamigo will take over the license and operation of your favorite game. Not to worry, next to nothing will change for you as a result. You can log in to the game as usual and play with your characters. The launcher just has to be patched. However, we will require just a bit more time to transfer the system and the servers back onto the net.”

Outspark CEO Philip Yun released a statement that read, “It’s an amazing exit to Outspark, one of the earliest and greatest founders of the Free-to-Play MMO space.”
