The new employee would be providing Linux support to ”external partners”, helping them develop game prototypes and ”ensure reliability” of Unix-based SDKs. Is Crytek branching out?
PC gaming isn’t generally thought of in the same sentence as Linux, but many companies are trying to change that. Valve’s Steambox is said to be Unix-based.
It’s unclear at this stage whether or not Crytek will be pursing Linux releases for any of their titles, but at least external partners will be able to use their CryEngine 3 tech.
