Another title joins the growing community of former Games for Windows Live titles as Codemasters confirms DiRT 3 is to lose its Games for Windows Live demon seed integration, but its unlikely to happen in 2013.
Instead DiRT 3 is going full throttle into the relative safe haven of Steamworks. There are ”no current plans” to bring the racer to GOG.com, home of the DRM-free PC gamer tribe.
”We are working on it but it may not be until the new year,” tweeted Codemasters when asked about leaving Games for Windows Live in a ditch by the roadside.
Recently Rocksteady updated the Game of the Year Editions for Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City with Steamworks as the shutdown of GFWL looms closer. It’s unknown how many more titles will follow suit such as Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV or even Lionhead’s Fable III, which is currently in a 75% off Steam sale. Awkward!
