Wargaming has today launched their World of Warplanes MMO as they expand their online universe with aerial dogfights, with the studio planning to ”grow and evolve” the MMO much like World of Tanks.
The game’s beta testing accrued 4.5 million players which Wargaming thanks for their ”invaluable feedback and input” that sees today’s launch. The MMO uses the Unified Premium Account system.
It shares a number of similar features with World of Tanks, including the account system, but swaps muddy tracks for a pair of soaring wings in 15 vs. 15 battles.
”The release of World of Warplanes marks a great moment for Wargaming, and we are extremely excited to offer players the next great chapter in our gaming universe,” said Victor Kislyi, CEO of Wargaming. ”Just as we did for World of Tanks, we’ll continue to grow and evolve World of Warplanes with new content, nations, aircraft and game modes to keep our players fully engaged and always eager to take to the skies.”
