Speaking to Strategy Informer, Creative Director Matt Mocarski mentioned, “Very early one in development, we actually hooked up an Xbox Controller to our PC’s and started playing with that. It actually felt really cool.”
“When you look at what Blizzard did with Diablo III, converting it for the consoles, it feels like it was made for that. I think that we do have a very movement based game, and I think it would feel great on a controller.”
Despite this however, Mocarski wouldn’t confirm that Controller Support is something the company would want to officially add to Wildstar, either now or post release.
“It’s definitely a passion project with some of the guys on the team. It’s not something that we’re doing as a company right now… we don’t want to say ‘Oh, we want the game to work on a 16-button controller’ or whatever, because we don’t want to compromise our vision for the game on the PC”
Wildstar has just entered its ‘Winter Beta’, and only has a release window of Q1/Q2 2014.
