Ubisoft is taking a different approach with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s add-on Freedom Cry by also releasing it as a standalone game. The DLC stars Adewale as a now trained Assassin.
It will release first for PS3 and PS4 February 19th but then on PC February 25th. Of course it can already be enjoyed in ACIV: Black Flag. Freedom Cry has nine missions across Haiti.
There has been no mention of a standalone version coming to Xbox 360 or Xbox One. It seems Ubisoft want to try and see if they can release standalone bite-size adventures.
Freedom Cry follows Adewale as he gets shipwrecked on Haiti and ends up leading a slave rebellion to free his people from the merciless authorities. He helps the locals in exchange for a ship and crew, and gets dragged back into his own past as a young slave. Adewale gets command of his own brig in Freedom Cry.
