Massive Entertainment has claimed that those who buy the PC version of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be able to “cram it up a bit” if they have high-end hardware.
Massive’s Martin Hulberg also promised that The Division isn’t being “downgraded” from its full potential in order to play on current-gen consoles.
“Downgrading is a weird term to use,” he said in an interview with Open World Games. “Obviously, we want to make a game that looks the best it can on its respective format, so Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.”
“So I think the term downgrade is a bit confusing and weird because we’re trying to get the most out of every machine we use. So Xbox gets its attention, PlayStation gets its attention, and PC of course will be able to cram it up a bit more depending on the hardware you have.”
Hulberg also suggested that the team would avoid limiting frame-rate to one value across all platforms. Massive are making the right sounds so far about treating the PC version with equal respect to the consoles. That natural inclination to be slightly wary of Ubisoft PC versions might not be neccesary here. We’ll see.
The Division will be released on PC and current-gen consoles in 2015.
