Fears that MMO developers Turbine were losing their grip on the Lord of the Rings license appear to have been lessened by a post on the LOTRO forums by a community manager that confirms the company has an agreement in place until 2017.
Community manager Sapience posted on the forum to reassure fans that Turbine have secured the game’s long-term future.
”I just wanted to drop in and address the concerns surrounding the license, again. We have said as far back as July of 2013, we plan to support LOTRO for many years to come. I really want to be as clear as possible on this subject to avoid any further confusion or misunderstanding. The license was renewed.” Said Sapience. When this wasn’t enough to appease posters, they added, ”We have an agreement that runs through 2017.”
The same community manager recently implied that Turbine are not working on any future content for LOTRO, after the game’s recent expansion Helm’s Deep.
