Mouldy Toof Studios’ jail break-out game The Escapists is now available on Steam Early Access. Created by solo dev Chris Davis, the game lets you plan out the perfect prison escape.
Or you can panic, get caught trying to dump pocketfuls of tunnel dirt down the toilet then get clubbed unconscious by seventy guards. That happened to me. Six times.
It’s not just a matter of digging a tunnel and hoping for the best. Players have to stick to a rigid schedule, enforced by the prison staff. Do enough favours for your fellow inmates and you can scrape together enough junk to start crafting handy items, which you can then use to try and escape in a number of inventive ways. It’s a neat concept.
”We expect that Early Access will last until the end of this year, with a full release launching in Early 2015,” write publishers Team 17 on the game’s Steam page. ”Please understand that this may change in line with developments during the Early Access - rest assured that we’ll always keep you updated here.”
The Escapists is available on Steam Early Access right now for £6.99. Check our recent preview for more on the game. Here’s what’s in the first build:
