If you’ve been hunting down legendary item after legendary item thanks this week’s Diablo III anniversary buff, then here’s some good news for you. Blizzard intend to keep the increased legendary drop rate, initially added to celebrate the game’s two-year anniversary, for good.
Game designer Travis Day posted the following message on the Diablo forums yesterday.
“I ccome bearing exciting news. Due to the overwhelming popularity of our Anniversary buff we have decided to keep the increased Legendary drop rate once the Anniversary celebration ends. Once the buff is disabled tomorrow morning, you will find that the new base line drop rates for Legendary items will be the same as those you have all enjoyed for the last week. Happy hunting and link the loot!”
The buff originally awarded PC and Mac players with double Rift Fragments and a 100 percent boost to their chance of looting legendary items. The double Rift bit is gone, but honestly, Diablo fans know better loot trumps everything else.
Launched back in 2012, Diablo III received its first expansion, Reaper of Souls, back in March.
