Dark Souls was intended to shed its much-maligned Games for Windows Live online functionality in favour of moving across to Steam this November, but the date’s now been pushed back a month.
The news was revealed in a post on the game’s Steam community page, with Bandai Namco promising to keep fans updated over the coming weeks.
“We are working hard to finalize the process to move your Dark Souls: Prepare to Die saves and achievements to Steam,” reads the latest update. “We need to conduct additional testing and we are now targeting December to begin this process. We’ll have more information in the coming weeks. Thank you very much for your patience!”
When the change comes it will be possible to migrate your Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition games, saves and achievements over to Steam, regardless of where you actually bought the game. There’s going to be a set migration period for that process, after which Namco says “game Save Data and Achievements transfer functions may not be available.”
