Copyright and file-sharing news site Torrent Freak is reporting that Machine Game’s recently released reboot Wolfenstein: The New Order has been pirated over 100,000 times already since its launch last week.
While that hefty 40GB download has indeed put some less patient illegal downloaders off, that doesn’t seem to have been the case all round.
“I was gonna get this torrent but I saw the size and how long it would take me to download it, I said ** it I’m getting it from Steam,” said torrent user Caxtilteca, amusingly. “Took me 2 hours to download 40GB including the day one update.”
Still, despite impatience with a lack of seeders and that mega-sized download, Wolfenstein still had the largest torrent swarms of any game last week and Torrent Freak report that ”by the weekend more than 100,000 pirates had endured the wait to grab themselves a copy.”
It’s not all bad news for Machine Games and publishes Bethesda though. Wolfenstein came in at number one in the UK game charts this week, accounting for a quarter of all entertainment software sales.
