I think it’s fair to say that there’s been some dissatisfaction with the PC version of horror title The Evil Within, which was locked at 30FPS upon release, and comes equipped with love-‘em-or-hate-‘em letterbox borders.
Bethesda and developer Tango Gameworks have decided to listen to unhappy fans, and have just released a patch that unlocks native 60FPS support and removes the letterboxing.
Bethesda revealed the console commands for doing this manually last month, but still asserted that removing the 30FPS limit and borders could cause problems, and was contrary to creator Shinji Mikami’s vision of the game. Seems they’ve decided that’s no longer the case.
The new visual options come as part of a hefty update that clock in at 1.5GB. Most of the listed changes are technical fixes for graphical errors. You can check out the patch notes here.
