There’s a demo out for survival horror The Evil Within, letting you try out the first three blood-spattered chapters of the game for free. They happen to be the worst chapters in the game… but still!
Should you decide you want to buy the game after that taster, you’ll also get a copy of 2009 FPS horror Call of Cthulhu - which is a bit odd, but fair enough.
Yes, it’s unfortunate that the opening of Shinji Mikami’s gory horror is a bit of a pain in the arse, but you will at least begin to get a sense of the measured, careful and above all frugal approach you’ll need to employ to avoid getting pulled apart by faux-zombies. This isn’t Resident Evil 4, and you can’t just blast everything in sight.
Everyone who already own the game will also get a copy of Cthulhu, which is actually a decent game in its own right, especially if you’re a big Lovecraft fan. As for The Evil Within, well despite a rather lacklustre PC version we rather liked that too. Check out our thoughts here.
Or you can head on over to Steam to pick up the demo.
