Despite the release of Hardline and the imminent emergence of Star Wars Battlefront, Electronic Arts hasn’t given up on 2013’s Battlefield 4.
The company has announced a new expansion pack called Night Operations, which focuses on… night operations, is out in September 2015, adding a new map, improved stealth and dynamic sound, and more.
“We quickly realized there was more to it than just making a pretty map,” says developer EA DICE, of new level Zavod: Graveyard Shift. “It would need to feature a new sound landscape, destructible lights, and a different sort of gameplay. This lead to us focusing on the creation of Zavod: Graveyard Shift, based on Zavod 311, a new map that brings with it several improvements and tweaks to allow for more stealthy and tactical gameplay.”
Stealth tweaks include improved sound, so it’s easier to pick out enemy footsteps, and “passive/active spotting.” Gadgets and tools have also been tweaked to make them shine in the dark, but less so during the day.
