Taking some cues from Riot Games when it comes to community management, Blizzard is adding new tools to MOBA Heroes of the Storm that will make it easier for players to report harassment and toxic behaviour.
For a kick-off, new categories have been added to the game’s in-built report player option, covering all the classic forms of anti-social behaviour enjoyed by the average internet idiot.
Receive too many individual reports, and you run the risk of a Silence Penalty. This new punishment basically stops the offender from communicating with other players, restricting their chat options to their immediate party and preventing them from sending messages to strangers. The first time you receive a Silence Penalty, you’ll find your chat restricted for 24 hours. This will double every subsequent time without a maximum cap.
These options will arrive in the game’s next patch, which Blizzard hasn’t dated just yet.
