The hunt for the lost cities of gold will begin later this month as Paradox Interactive announce Europa Universalis IV: El Dorado will be launching its expedition February 26th. This is the fifth expansion to the grand strategy.
It adds a number of major new features such as a more in-depth Central and South America, auto-exploring fleets, the new Nation Designer for custom games, and will be accompanied by a patch with free content.
In just over a week the dynamic of Europa Universalis IV will shift again, as other major changes are coming too. The Liberty Desire system for colonial nations will be spreading to include vassals and personal unions, meaning we can no longer treat our lessers as little more than slave states.
”El Dorado adds greater depth to the Aztec, Mesoamerican and Incan cultures with new religions and mechanics to help them prepare for the inevitable foreign invasions. Can you ward off Doomsday and hold off the Spanish armies?”
”El Dorado also introduces a system to automate exploration at sea and on land, where your hardy adventurers will encounter new events and decisions in their quest for cities of gold.”
“There are also treasure fleets, changes to vassal management and many minor changes – as well as the usual pile of content free to all Europa Universalis IV players that accompanies every Paradox Development Studio expansion.”
A fresh developer live stream with Project Leader Martin ‘Wiz’ Anward will air tomorrow @ 6.00pm CET (GMT+1) on the official Paradox Interactive Twitch channel. El Dorado releases on February 26th.
