Automated tournaments will finally be added in the next Beta update for StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void, after Blizzard first announced them last year.
This means that you’ll be able to jump into daily and weekly ranked tournaments organised by the game’s servers, rather than having to wait for a human to set them up.
“To mimic the existing tournament experience as closely as possible,” explains Blizzard, “Automated Tournaments will feature group stages that feed into a bracket stage playoff. You will also have opportunities to study your opponents, and maps can be vetoed.”
Daily tournaments will last between three and four hours, and in both daily and weekly competitions you should find yourself matched against players of your level.
”Due to the nature of this feature, it is more difficult to get a lot of internal playtesting compared to other parts of the game. Please do your best to try out various combinations and let us know if you find any bugs!” Blizzard asks.
Full details are up on Battle.net. There’s no date for the patch as yet, but expect it to roll out in the next few weeks.
