Information data mined from the website of spy thriller The Division suggests that the game is set to kick off an alpha test shortly.
Reddit forum users (who else?) uncovered the section in question on the HTML5 Version of the official website. Fiddling with the site’s code causes an ‘Alpha’ section to pop up in the menu bar.
Currently visiting the domain leads to a blank page, but it’s a sign that Ubisoft might be planning some kind of closed testing stage in the future. Set amongst the ruined remnants of a New York stripped of life by a mass viral outbreak, The Division casts players as members of an elite special forces team trying to preserve civilisation amidst the chaos. It’s expected to release sometime this year on PC and consoles.
