The Half-Life 2: Update mod, a labour of love from passionate fans of Valve’s seminal FPS, will go live on Steam tomorrow.
Even better, not only is the mod completely free but Half-Life 2 developer Valve has also given it their stamp of approval, too.
Previously distributed outside of Steam, tomorrow’s release marks the first time that the mod will be available on Valve’s digital distribution platform.
In the works since 2009, Update has made a whole raft of improvements to the 2004 shooter classic.
Such alterations have ranged from minor fixes to larger visual overhauls, such as the introduction of HDR lighting in one of the mod’s earlier iterations.
Furthermore, the likes of Origin PC, EVGA and Nvidia have all dug into their pockets for sponsorship to make the mod into a reality.
To fill your brain with what Update is all about and just how much it meaningfully improves on the original release, you might want to take a gander at the two videos below.
