A long sought after feature for Prison Architect has finally made the cut as Introversion introduces ”part 1 of a larger feature” with Gangs. Incoming prisoners now have a chance at belonging to an organised gang.
They’ll be tattooed and are usually among the dangerous / higher security prisoners. These gang members will aid each other in fights, are more likely to carry weapons, won’t enter reform programs and won’t work.
We’re teased in the full changelog for Alpha 34 that this is just part of the gang system in Prison Architect, so it will likely expand to other influences. It may even have its own set of reform programs to try and get people out of the groups, or let us fully segregate them.
We also get a new room with the Shop, which lets prisoners buy items from a store front adjacent to a corridor. Prisoners can work in the shop if allowed and they can buy items to help satisfy certain needs like soap, shampoo, towels, blankets, magazines and snacks.
Prisoners are also no longer free labour when they work. They receive 50 cents an hour and items in the shop cost $5 each. These new financial figures are included in the daily cashflow report. There are quite a few bug fixes too like no more naked prisoners strutting out the prison if released during a shower and Library books shouldn’t endlessly pile up.
