Paradox announced a couple of weeks ago that they’d be bringing a new expansion to Crusader Kings II featuring the Black Death, and now we know when it will be available. Prepare to bring out your dead, because the Reaper’s Due will come August 25.
As we previously reported, the plague travels along sea and trade lanes, sapping your manpower and lowering your wealth. You’ll need to keep up hospitals and physicians, and keep your kingdom armed with the knowledge of medieval medicine. If things get too bad, however, you’ll need to seal yourself away from the plight of your people to avoid contracting the plague yourself.
Along with the paid expansion, a free patch will bring some improvement for all Crusader Kings II players. Custom rules will now allow you to change options for epidemics, invasions, and legal progress. There’ll be a new auto-save system, a better interface to explain lines of succession, improved AI attitudes toward disloyalty, optimization fixes, and a big ol’ continue button to get you into your most recent campaign quickly and easily.
Still no price on the Reaper’s Due, but both it and the free patch will launch on August 25.
