Roberts Space Industries didn't just organise an exclusive event for their massively over-schedule space sim Star Citizen just to announce the campaign mode delay. They used a good 30 minutes of it to drive around procedurally generated planets and checking out a hulking space worm.
With the No Man's Sky debate winding down to a close, those with a real itch for space exploration are looking to the future. Whether that future is with Star Citizen or not depends on when it finally launches for those not really to splurge on what is essentially an Early Access experience at this point.
The 30 minute 'Homestead' presentation below is sapped straight from CitizenCon 2016 and shows the highs and lows of traversing around a procedurally generated landscape in a glorified, creaky dune-buggy and the most basic of spaceships looking for the source of a distress beacon.
While we get to see these fancy gun-totting animations yet again, we're also treated to more than a handful of jarring visual tears evident of a game still in the early stages of development.
If your favorite show doesn't start for a while yet, sit back and admire some space trees in 60FPS glory.
