Despite all issues, Konami has moved forward with Metal Gear Online. The folks from Kojima Productions may be unavailable to look to for direction, but the team currently developing MGO has announced that they are ready to bring the experience of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain into an online-only format and allow PC players their first look at it today.
The announcement was made via a community update via MGS V’s Steam page. Reportedly, access to Metal Gear Online will open up to all players who opt and download at 10PM US Pacific Standard Time (about 6AM GST). It is unknown what or how much of the game players can expect to have access to in this Beta test, but at the time of this writing, Konami was dropping new information about MGSV DLC and Metal Gear Online Beta details via their Twitch Channel. Even if you miss it, the video will undoubtedly be in the page’s archives post-stream.
Metal Gear Online seemed to be in turmoil last we saw news of it. Kojima Productions in LA was working on the project until the office was shut down last November. Whatever the case, it would appear that Konami has followed through on their intentions to deliver this game with or without Kojima.
Are you going to be checking out the Metal Gear Online Beta? Can it still succeed without Kojima Productions or Hideo himself? Let us know below.
